News Release: Badger Kick-Off Classic to be held Dec. 6-8

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Saddle & Sirloin Club is pleased to announce that the 19th Annual Badger Kick-Off Classic Open Prospect Steer & Heifer Show (BKOC) will be held Dec. 6-8 at the Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis, Wis.

BKOC is one of the upper Midwest’s largest prospect beef cattle shows, drawing nearly 800 head from more than a dozen states in 2012. It is presented and organized entirely by the UW-Madison Saddle & Sirloin Club, a student organization at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

“We are excited to welcome nearly 800 of the Midwest’s best prospects to Wisconsin for this weekend,” said Taylor Fritsch, the show’s chair. “The hard work of our students and continued support of our sponsors have helped BKOC mature into a leading destination for prospect cattle.”

Badger Kick-Off will again include a market cattle and breeding female show, as well as free junior showmanship classes. Cash payouts, Andis clippers and other awards are presented to top animals.

A full schedule, entry forms, rules and health regulations are available on the show website, While pre-entry has closed, walk-in entries are accepted. Questions and other inquiries can be directed to Taylor Fritsch at 608.341.7240 or via email at

Badger Kick-Off Classic would not be possible without the support of more than fifty sponsors. Major sponsors of this year’s show include LubriSyn LVS Livestock and Max-Strum, Andis, Bob May Show Steers, Milwaukee Stockyards and The Showtimes Junior Livestock Magazine.

Saddle & Sirloin is a student organization at UW-Madison for students interested in beef, sheep, swine and equine. Members enjoy educational outreach, service activities and social events. The organization builds camaraderie among students interested in the animal sciences and offers valuable learning and leadership opportunities.

All NEW Badger Kick-Off Classic Stalling Auction THIS Wednesday, Nov. 27

Hate looking for enough stalling space at Badger Kick-Off? Like to be close the to ring? Just don’t want to come to the fairgrounds early on Friday to hold on to your spot? Don’t worry! The Badger Kick-Off has a solution for you.

Created as a result of popular demand for a way to reserve space at the Badger Kick-Off, we’ve created an optional way for exhibitors to purchase a space through an auction format. We’ve partnered with our friends at for an online sale that will open Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 8 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. CST on Nov. 27.

Here’s how it works:

  • The auction will feature ten lots. Each lot will entitle the purchasing exhibitor to 30 feet of stall space on one side of the aisle. Lots are located on the east side of the cattle barn (closest to the show ring), but can be moved down the aisle (but not to other aisles) at the buyer’s request and BKOC’s approval.
  • All lots will be priced to start at $50, with $10 bid increments.
  • Payment must be received prior to BKOC for the space to be reserved. Reserved spaces will be held open until registration closes on Saturday, December 7.

Exhibitors are in no way obligated to purchase a lot – we will find reasonable space for all exhibitors in the barns.

Please note that exhibitors will not be permitted in the barns before 6 a.m. on Friday, December 6. Any exhibitor in the barns before this time will be removed. This will be strictly enforced.

Below is a map of the lots. Access the sale here.
